Job summary

The Methodist Healthcare Residency Program at Methodist Hospital offers a year-long, paid residency for new graduate nurses to develop clinical and critical thinking skills in Cardiac Telemetry, Orthopedics and Med Surg. You will be supported by nurse educators, experienced nurses, and peers as you transition from student nurse to registered nurse.

The RN Resident coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered care in collaboration with the care team, following established nursing

Qualifications

Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of employment.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 1 year of employment.
Other Certifications may be required during employment.
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.
Registered Nurse License or Graduate Nurse Permit in the State of Texas.
No previous healthcare experience needed.
Some travel may be needed for training.

Responsibilities

Assess patient condition during admission and each shift, report changes.
Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered; document care in the record.
Administer prescribed medications and monitor therapeutic response; notify provider if needed.
Provide exceptional care by promptly responding to patient requests.
Educate patients, families and caregivers about condition, status, treatment, medications and follow-up.
