Job summary

HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital, Inc. is offering a Nurse Extern II position with a clear path to RN licensure. You’ll work on the Medical/Surgical Unit in Shelbyville, IL, joining a team that values respect, care, competence, and joy.

The role starts in your final nursing semester and transitions to RN on license; a $10,000 sign-on is available for approved units. The schedule is full-time, nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) with weekend and holiday rotation.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program; licensure in state of practice required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.
• Licensed RN in state of practice required.
• BLS certification required.
• Experience in healthcare is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the Medical/Surgical Unit as a Nurse Extern II transitioning to RN.
• Support nursing staff during night shifts and weekend/holiday rotations.
• Provide direct patient care under supervision and ensure safety and quality.
• Collaborate with the care team to deliver compassionate, patient-centered care.
