Job summary

ChildServe is seeking a PRN nurse in Iowa to join a dedicated team providing comprehensive pediatric care from birth to 21 years. The position involves delivering nursing care per the patient care plan and collaborating with physicians, families, and school personnel.

You will maintain records, communicate effectively, and support ongoing training for families and staff. A strong heart for helping kids with special healthcare needs is essential.

Qualifications

• Active Iowa RN or LPN license.
• Current BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross).
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs and mobility within the work area.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a full range of nursing care according to the nursing process.
• Maintain accurate, timely patient records per nursing standards.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, school personnel, and staff.
• Provide oversight of care delivered by LPNs and paraprofessionals.
• Provide training to children, families, and staff as needed.
• Demonstrate stewardship of equipment, supplies, and environment.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

Job description

As a nurse at ChildServe, you will join a team of caring professionals in Iowa's only compressive rehabilitation program designed exclusively for children and teens. Our intensive medical and nursing services support children with a variety of conditions from birth to 21 years of age.

What You'll Do

• Within the nursing scope of practice, physician’s orders, and the patient’s care plan, make decisions and deliver a full range of nursing care based on the fundamentals of the nursing process.
• Maintain accurate, completed, and timely records as defined by nursing standards of practice and ChildServepolicies and procedures.
• Communicate effectively, respectfully, and professionally with patients, physicians, families, school personnel, ChildServe staff, and others to assure assigned child’s care needs are assessed, communicated, and met.
• Provide oversight of the care delivered by Licensed Practical Nurses and paraprofessionals.
• Provide training to children, families, and staff as needed to help advance the skills and knowledge of all people associated with a child’s care delivery.
• Demonstrate good stewardship of ChildServeequipment, supplies, and environment.
• Complete other duties as assigned

What You'll Need

• Current valid license as a RN/LPN in Iowa.
• Active BLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Ability to communicate effectively in reading, writing and speaking the English language
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs, be mobile within the assigned work area, and frequently bend, lift, reach, and stand.
• This position requires a seasonal COVID vaccination or approved exemption.
