Job summary

ChildServe in Johnston, IA is seeking a dedicated registered nurse to join our rehab and complex medical units. You will deliver comprehensive nursing care, follow the care plan, and work within the nursing scope under physician orders.

This full-time role offers health benefits, PTO, and a 403(b) retirement plan. You will record accurately, communicate with residents, families, and school personnel, supervise LPNs and paraprofessionals, and provide training to patients and staff.

Qualifications

• Current valid license as a Registered Nurse in Iowa.
• 1 year of nursing or 1 year of ChildServe experience required.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs, be mobile within the clinic areas, and frequently bend, lift, reach, and stand.
• Active BLS certification.
• Ability to communicate effectively in reading, writing and speaking the English language.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a full range of nursing care based on the nursing process and care plan.
• Maintain accurate, completed, and timely records according to standards of practice and ChildServe policies.
• Communicate effectively with residents, physicians, families, school personnel, ChildServe staff, and others to assess and meet care needs.
• Provide oversight of the care delivered by Licensed Practical Nurses and paraprofessionals.
• Provide training to patients, families, and staff as needed to advance skills and knowledge.
• Demonstrate good stewardship of equipment, supplies, and environment.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

Job description

As a nurse at ChildServe, you will join a team of caring professionals with a mission of providing needed services to children and young adults age birth to 30. This position will support our rehab and complex medical units.

When You'll Work

• 6am-6pm
• Four‑week scheduling rotation, every 4th weekend, 2 holidays per year. Unit location will be determined based on need.

Benefits

This role is full-time and eligible for health benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time‑off, and a 403(b) retirement account. PTO is frontloaded and starts accruing immediately.

What You'll Do

• Make decisions and deliver a full range of nursing care based on the fundamentals of the nursing process, within the nursing scope of practice, physician’s orders, and the care plan.
• Maintain accurate, completed, and timely records as defined by nursing standards of practice and ChildServe policies and procedures.
• Communicate effectively, respectfully, and professionally with residents, physicians, families, school personnel, ChildServe staff, and others to assure assigned child’s care needs are assessed, communicated, and met.
• Provide oversight of the care delivered by Licensed Practical Nurses and paraprofessionals.
• Provide training to patients, families, and staff as needed to help advance the skills and knowledge of all people associated with a child’s care delivery.
• Demonstrate good stewardship of ChildServe equipment, supplies, and environment.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
