Job summary

ChildServe in Des Moines, IA is seeking a Nurse to join our Medical Childcare team. You will provide skilled, compassionate nursing care to children ages 6 weeks to 21 years with complex healthcare needs living at home, supporting health, growth, and skill development.

This PRN role offers Monday–Friday hours (7:30 a.m.–6:00 p.m.), 10–20 hours per week, with 4– to 10-hour shifts available. A valid Iowa RN or LPN license and BLS are required.

Qualifications

• Current valid license as an RN or LPN in Iowa.
• Active BLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs, be mobile within the clinic areas, and frequently bend, lift, reach, and stand.
• Ability to communicate effectively in reading, writing and speaking English.

Responsibilities

• Provide full range of nursing services that include administration of medications, feedings, and treatments to meet each child’s daily care needs.
• Perform ongoing assessments as needed.
• Assist with creation or recertification of care plans as requested (RN only).
• Coordinate care with interdisciplinary team to ensure health and safety needs are addressed.
• Maintain accurate, complete and timely records.

ChildServe is looking for a Nurse to join our Medical Childcare team. Our program offers a specialized environment for children with medical complexities who live at home but need a higher level of care than traditional daycare can provide.

In this role, you’ll provide compassionate, skilled care to children ages 6 weeks to 21 years with complex healthcare needs, while supporting each child’s health, growth, and skill development. Schedule

• PRN
• Operating hours: Monday-Friday 7:30a-6p
• Days, no nights/holidays/weekends/call, 10-20 hrs/week. 4hr to 10hr hours shifts available.

How You’ll Make an Impact

• Provide full range of nursing services that include administration of medications, feedings, and treatments to meet each child’s daily care needs.
• Perform ongoing assessments as needed.
• Assist with creation or recertification of care plans as requested, RN only.
• Implement child’s care plan include nursing, therapy, and behavior support, conducting baselines, support plans and procedures.
• Monitor children’s response to care.
• Coordinate care with interdisciplinary team to ensure health and safety needs are addressed.
• Assist the clients in becoming as independent as possible through skill development and retention.
• Assist the clients with comfort measures including but not limited to positioning and safety devices.
• Direct responsibility for clients assigned.
• Maintain accurate, complete and timely records.
• Report and document daily observations, routine support provided, and any health/physical/behavioral changes.
• Communicate with clients, licensed professionals, Child Serve personnel, families, schools, and the public, in a courteous and professional manner.

What You’ll Need
