Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking an ICU nurse for weekend night shifts at UAB St. Vincent's Chilton. The role provides direct patient care in a busy ICU, coordinating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal outcomes.

Eligible positions offer generous PTO, parental leave and tuition reimbursement. ICU experience is highly preferred and Alabama RN licensure is required before hire date.

Qualifications

• ICU experience is highly preferred.
• BLS Provider certification required; ACLS/ALS recommended.
• Licensed RN in Alabama before hire date.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care per policies and procedures.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans; observe and record patient status.
• Coordinate care with physicians, nurses and other disciplines.
• Assess discharge planning needs with the healthcare team.

Job Description

Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.

• Implement and monitor patient care plans. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
• Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assesss and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education:

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing AND Required professional licensure at time of hire.
