Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL is seeking an RN for the MICU on a part-time days and nights shift (7 to 7). The MICU/1South unit cares for ICU patients with a focus on teamwork and comprehensive observation.

The role requires nursing licensure in Alabama, BLS and ACLS certifications, and a Diploma in Nursing. You will provide direct patient care, coordinate multi-disciplinary plans, and support discharge planning in a busy ICU setting.

Qualifications

• BLS within 30 days of hire date or transfer date required.
• ACLS within 180 days of hire date or transfer date required.
• Alabama Board of Nursing licensure prior to hire date or transfer date required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care per policies and procedures.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans and communicate patient condition.
• Coordinate care with multiple disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assist with discharge planning and coordination with healthcare team.

• Work Location: UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham

Our 1South ICU, which is also a Medical ICU, has 18 beds. Our Medical Intensive Care Unit has 11 beds. We pride ourselves on team cohesiveness. All of the patient care supervisors are readily available M-F and leadership of all levels has a great presence daily. We are always accepting new graduates, everyone enjoys teaching, and no one is left to do things alone.

Job Description

Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.

• Implement and monitor patient care plans. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
• Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education:

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing AND Required professional licensure at time of hire.
