Job summary

UAB Medicine in Alabama is seeking an experienced operating room Registered Nurse to deliver professional perioperative care in a fast-paced surgical setting. You will scrub, circulate, assist surgeons, and help prepare rooms and instruments for procedures.

Qualifications

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing and professional licensure at time of hire.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire date is required.
• Alabama RN licensure prior to hire date is required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver professional nursing care in the operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures.
• Perform scrub functions including selection and handling of instruments and supplies used during procedures.
• Perform circulating functions including monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care before, during and after procedures.
• Directly assist operating physician with surgical tasks including hemostasis, suturing and wound exposure as well as patient positioning.
• Prepare operating rooms and surgical instruments and equipment for use.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Minimum Requirements:

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing AND professional licensure at time of hire required.
