Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL, is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to deliver professional care in the operative setting for patients undergoing surgical procedures.

Responsibilities include scrub and circulating functions, assisting the operating physician with hemostasis, suturing, wound exposure, and preparing ORs and instruments; the role also covers patient positioning and perioperative nursing care before, during, and after procedures. Qualifications

• BLS Provider certification within 30 days of hire.
• Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed by the Alabama Board of Nursing.

Job Description

Deliver professional nursing care in the operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures.

• Perform scrub functions including the selection and handling of instruments and supplies used during procedure.
• Perform circulating functions including monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care of patient before, during and after procedure.
• Directly assist operating physician with surgical tasks including hemostasis, suturing and wound exposure as well as patient positioning.
• Prepare operating rooms and surgical instruments and equipment for use.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Minimum Requirements:

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing AND professional licensure at time of hire required.
