Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL, is seeking a Registered Nurse for the 6 West Med Surg - Post Surgical unit. Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization, and coordinate patient care with the team on a 24-bed Bariatric post-operative unit focused on Gastric Bypass and Sleeve Gastrectomy.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider within 30 days of hire date.
• Currently licensed or eligible as RN by Alabama Board of Nursing.
• Diploma from an accredited nursing program and licensure at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor patient care plans; document patient status.
• Coordinate care; act as primary coordinator across disciplines.

    Full Time Nights, 7p to 7a

• Work Location: UAB St. Vincent's East, Trussville

  6 West, Post-Operative Bariatric, is a 24-bed unit that focuses on patients who are post-operative weight loss surgery. The most common procedures that are performed on the patients are a Gastric Bypass and Sleeve Gastrectomy.

Job Description

Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.

• Implement and monitor patient care plans. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
• Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required.

Education:

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing AND professional licensure at time of hire required.
