Job summary

Penn State Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Operating Room at the Hershey Outpatient Surgical Center. The RN provides comprehensive perioperative nursing care under ANA, AORN, ASPAN standards, and hospital protocols, developing and revising patient care plans throughout the perioperative period.

Successful candidates will be licensed RNs with BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications and may have prior perioperative or outpatient recovery experience.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice as a registered nurse by state of employment or multistate RN license via compact.
• BLS ACLS & PALS certifications required before end of orientation.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients in OR and outpatient settings in accordance with standards and organizational protocols.
• Develop and revise care plans based on patient needs.
• Maintain current clinical knowledge and skills to facilitate safe patient care.

The Registered Nurse provides nursing care to patients in compliance with, but not limited to, Standards of Practice as defined by ANA, AORN, ASPAN and State Practice Act Standards, and organization protocols, policies, procedures, and guidelines. Develops, implements, evaluates, and revises plan of care based on physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and educational needs of the patient/caregiver. Maintains clinical knowledge and skills competencies to facilitate patient care in accordance with current standards of practice and monitors the environment to provide safe patient care.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

• Currently licensed to practice as a registered nurse by state of employment or holds a multistate RN license through the interstate Nurse Licensure Compact
• AHA BLS, ACLS & PALS before the end of the orientation period.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

• Prior experience in perioperative or outpatient recovery settings (pre- and/or post-operative care preferred).
• Demonstrated proficiency in intravenous (IV) therapy, including insertion and management.
• At least one (1) year of professional nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting.
