Job summary

UAB Medicine in Alabama’s largest health system is seeking a skilled CVOR nurse to provide professional nursing care in the operative setting for surgical procedures. The role includes scrub and circulating duties, direct assistance to the surgeon, and preparation of operating rooms and instruments. You will work at UAB St.

Vincent's East on a 6am-3pm, Monday–Friday schedule with rotating call. Eligibility requires an Alabama nursing diploma, BLS, and ACLS within specified timelines, plus

• BLS Provider required within 30 days of hire; ACLS within 180 days; licensure by Alabama Board of Nursing.

Job Description

Deliver professional nursing care in the operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures.

• Perform scrub functions including the selection and handling of instruments and supplies used during procedure.
• Perform circulating functions including monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care of patient before, during and after procedure.
• Directly assist operating physician with surgical tasks including hemostasis, suturing and wound exposure as well as patient positioning.
• Prepare operating rooms and surgical instruments and equipment for use.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education:

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing AND professional licensure at time of hire required.
