Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking an experienced operating room nurse to deliver professional nursing care for surgical patients at UAB St. Vincent's East. The role requires scrub and circulating responsibilities, assisting the surgeon with hemostasis, suturing, and patient positioning, and preparing rooms and instruments for use.

Licensure as an Alabama RN, BLS and ACLS within required timeframes are mandatory. This full-time position offers benefits and opportunities within a large, nationally

Qualifications

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing.
• Professional licensure as an RN in Alabama required at time of hire.
• BLS certification required within 1 month of hire; ACLS within 6 months.

Job Description

Deliver professional nursing care in the operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures.

• Perform scrub functions including the selection and handling of instruments and supplies used during procedure.
• Perform circulating functions including monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care of patient before, during and after procedure.
• Directly assist operating physician with surgical tasks including hemostasis, suturing and wound exposure as well as patient positioning.
• Prepare operating rooms and surgical instruments and equipment for use.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education:

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing AND professional licensure at time of hire required.
