Job summary

UAB Medicine in Alabama is seeking a skilled operating room nurse to join the CVOR team. The role involves scrub and circulating responsibilities, preparing rooms and equipment, and directly assisting the operating physician during procedures.

Schedule is 6am-3pm, Monday through Friday, with rotating weekday/weekend/holiday call; work location at UAB St. Vincent's East. Eligible benefits include generous paid time off, parental leave, tuition reimbursement, and more.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing AND professional licensure at time of hire required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver professional nursing care in the operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures.
• Perform scrub functions including the selection and handling of instruments and supplies used during procedure.
• Perform circulating functions including monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care of patient before, during and after procedure.
• Directly assist operating physician with surgical tasks including hemostasis, suturing and wound exposure as well as patient positioning.
• Prepare operating rooms and surgical instruments and equipment for use.

Education

Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing AND professional licensure at time of hire required.
