Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL is seeking a dedicated registered nurse for our Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU/1South). You will provide direct patient care in a high-acuity setting and coordinate with multiple disciplines to ensure quality outcomes.

Required are an Alabama RN license, Diploma in Nursing, BLS and ACLS certifications, and ongoing professional development. Full-time day and night shifts offer a collaborative team, teaching environment, and opportunities to impact patient

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
• Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

• Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
• Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

• Schedule: Full-Time Days and Full-Time Nights 7:00 to 7:00

Our 1South ICU, which is also a Medical ICU, has 18 beds. We pride ourselves on team cohesiveness. All of the patient care supervisors are readily available M-F and leadership of all levels has a great presence daily. We are always accepting new graduates, everyone enjoys teaching, and no one is left to do things alone.

Education:
