Job summary

Penn State Health Lancaster Medical Center is seeking a compassionate RN for the Medicine/Surgery 5th Floor North, night shift, 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., 0.90 FTE.

The role focuses on assessing patients, planning and delivering care, administering medications, and documenting care in medical records. Candidates should hold an active RN license in Pennsylvania and BLS certification; orthopedic nursing experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse by state of employment or holds a multistate RN license through the interstate Nurse Licensure Compact.
• AHA BLS prior to end of orientation period

Responsibilities

• The RN inpatient Nurse assesses patient health problems and needs, develop and implement nursing care plans, and maintain medical records.
• The inpatient Registered Nurse administers nursing care to ill, injured, convalescent, or disabled patients. The RN may advise patients on health maintenance and disease prevention.
• The inpatient RN will monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients’ conditions.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The RN inpatient Nurse assesses patient health problems and needs, develop and implement nursing care plans, and maintain medical records. The inpatient Registered Nurse administers nursing care to ill, injured, convalescent, or disabled patients. The RN may advise patients on health maintenance and disease prevention. The inpatient RN will maintain accurate, detailed reports and records and administer medications to patients while monitoring for reactions and side effects. The RN will monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients’ conditions.

5 North is a dynamic, fast‑paced unit at Penn State Health Lancaster Medical Center, providing exceptional quality care for patients undergoing orthopedic and spinal surgery. Our team‑oriented environment fosters strong collaboration among all care providers, including RNs, PCAs, Physical Therapists, Surgeons, Physicians, and Case Management. While the unit specializes in orthopedic and spinal surgical patients, it also cares for a diverse range of medical‑surgical patients.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

• Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse by state of employment or holds a multistate RN license through the interstate Nurse Licensure Compact.
• AHA BLS prior to end of orientation period

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

• One year RN experience
• Orthopedic nursing experience
