Job summary

The Penn State Health Lancaster Medical Center is seeking an experienced RN for the Postanesthesia Care Unit. The role involves assessing patients, developing care plans, administering medications, and documenting care, with emphasis on patient safety and rapid recovery after surgery.

Evening and night shifts carry differential, and full-time 1.0 FTE is offered with 4–10 days of work per week. Minimum qualifications include an active RN license, BLS, ACLS, and PALS prior to orientation.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The RN inpatient Nurse assesses patient health problems and needs, develop and implement nursing care plans, and maintain medical records. The inpatient Registered Nurse administers nursing care to ill, injured, convalescent, or disabled patients. The RN may advise patients on health maintenance and disease prevention. The inpatient RN will maintain accurate, detailed reports and records and administer medications to patients while monitoring for reactions and side effects. The RN will monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients’ conditions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

• Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse by state of employment or holds a multistate RN license through the interstate Nurse Licensure Compact.
• AHA BLS required prior to orientation completion
• ACLS required prior to orientation completion
• PALS required prior to orientation completion

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

• One (1) year of recent ICU or Emergency experience is strongly preferred.
