Job summary

BayCare Health System in St. Petersburg, FL, is seeking an RN to join the ICU team for the days shift. This full-time, in-person role at St. Anthony's Hospital involves working in a Medical/Surgical ICU with a 6:45 AM–7:15 PM schedule and on-call duties, including every other weekend.

The RN will provide compassionate, evidence-based care, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and contribute to positive patient outcomes within BayCare's extensive network.

Qualifications

• RN license and nursing degree required.
• Preferred Bachelor’s in Nursing.
• 1 year RN ICU experience in acute care setting.
• BLS certification required (American Red Cross or American Heart Association).
• ACLS certification required (American Heart Association).

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care in the ICU using established nursing processes and clinical standards.
• Delegate appropriate care tasks to other healthcare team members.
• Care for patients throughout recovery in critical care.
• Monitor and document patient vitals and assessments for the care team.
• Identify sudden or subtle changes in patient condition and respond to emergencies.
• Coordinate discharge planning and referrals to ensure continuity of care after discharge.
• Maintain high emotional intelligence to ensure clear communication with patients and families.
• Demonstrate professional accountability and ongoing development.

Requirements:

• RN (Registered Nurse) License

• Diploma, Associate’s, Bachelor's or Higher in Nursing

• Preferred Education: Bachelor's in Nursing

• 1-year RN experience in the ICU in an Acute Care setting

• BLS certification with the American Red Cross or American Heart Association

• ACLS certification with the American Heart Association

The Registered Nurse – ICU responsibilities and skills:

• Works in a hospital setting and independently cares for a group of ICU patients consistently using the nursing process and clinical standards

• Delegates appropriate patient care activities to other members of the health care team

• Care for patient needs throughout their recovery in critical care

• Monitor, record, and update care team on patient vitals and assessments.

• Identifying sudden or subtle changes in a patient’s medical condition

• Responding to medical emergencies for critical patients

• Coordinates and documents appropriate discharge planning and referrals to ensure continuity of care after discharge

• High emotional intelligence to create a positive patient care experience that includes simplifying medical terminology and concepts to the patient

• Professional accountability and development
