A leading healthcare provider is seeking an On-Call RN for hospice care in Decatur, AL. Responsibilities include urgent symptom management and supportive care for patients and families. Ideal candidates will have a nursing degree, at least one year of experience, and familiarity with hospice practices. Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school with current licensure to practice in the state.
• One year nursing experience required, 3+ years preferred.
• Experience in hospice or a similar setting preferred.
• Knowledge of the hospice philosophy of care.
• Commitment to clinical and documentation excellence.
• Must be a licensed driver with a reliable insured vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Remote Triage On Call Team to deliver hands-on care to hospice patients.
• Assess and manage urgent symptoms quickly and compassionately.
• Administer medication or adjust care based on hospice protocols.
• Communicate with the physician regarding changes in condition and obtain orders as necessary.
• Offer guidance and support to the patient and family in understanding the current condition and next steps.
• If a death occurs during on-call hours, pronounce death, provide support to the family, contact the funeral home, and notify the hospice team.
• Complete timely documentation and communication.

As a On-Call RN You will:

• Collaborate with Remote Triage On Call Team to deliver hands‑on care to hospice patients and offer supportive services to their families during after‑hours, on an on‑call basis
• Assess and manage urgent symptoms quickly and compassionately
• Administer medication or adjust care based on hospice protocols or provider orders
• Communicate with the physician regarding changes in condition and obtain orders as necessary
• Offer guidance and support to the patient and family in understanding the current condition and anticipating the next steps
• If a death occurs during on‑call hours, the RN will go to the home or facility to pronounce death, provide support to the family, contact the funeral home, and notify the hospice team
• Complete timely documentation and communication
