Hospice of North Alabama is seeking an On-Call Registered Nurse to provide end-of-life care in a Florence, AL area office with a 7 days on / 7 days off schedule. You will collaborate with a remote triage on-call team, assess urgent symptoms, administer medications, and support families after-hours.

The role emphasizes compassionate care, documentation, and coordination with physicians, with opportunities for professional growth within a growing hospice organization.

Formación

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with an active RN license in the state of operation.
• One year of nursing experience required; three or more years preferred.
• Experience in hospice or a similar setting preferred.
• Knowledge of the hospice philosophy of care.
• Commitment to clinical and documentation excellence.
• Must have a valid driver''s license with a reliable vehicle.

Responsabilidades

• Collaborate with the Remote Triage On Call Team to deliver hands-on care to hospice patients and support families during after-hours, on-call.
• Assess and manage urgent symptoms quickly and compassionately.
• Administer medication or adjust care per hospice protocols or orders.
• Communicate with the physician regarding changes in condition and obtain orders as needed.
• Provide guidance to patients and families to understand current condition and next steps.
• Pronounce death when applicable during on-call hours and coordinate with families and funeral home.
• Complete timely documentation and communication.

As a On-Call RN You will:

• Collaborate with Remote Triage On Call Team to deliver hands-on care to hospice patients and offer supportive services to their families during after-hours, on an on-call basis
• Assess and manage urgent symptoms quickly and compassionately
• Administer medication or adjust care based on hospice protocols or provider orders
• Communicate with the physician regarding changes in condition and obtain orders as necessary
• Offer guidance and support to the patient and family in understanding the current condition and anticipating the next steps
• If a death occurs during on-call hours, the RN will go to the home or facility to pronounce death, provide support to the family, contact the funeral home, and notify the hospice team
• Complete timely documentation and communication

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school with current licensure to practice in state of operation
• One year nursing experience required, 3+ years preferred
• Experience in hospice or a similar setting preferred
• Knowledge of the hospice philosophy of care
• Commitment to clinical and documentation excellence
• Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state/or organization requirements and is in good working order
