Job summary

Baptist Health Walker Hospital is seeking a full-time Float Pool Registered Nurse for the day shift, covering three 12-hour shifts. You will provide advanced nursing care for critically ill patients and collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams.

Eligibility includes graduation from an approved nursing program, Alabama RN license or equivalent, and BLS certification. Experience in acute care is preferred for this role.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
• Current Alabama RN license or valid eNLC multistate RN license.
• Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.

Responsibilities

• Provides advanced nursing care for critically ill patients requiring complex assessments, high-intensity interventions, and continuous monitoring.
• Uses clinical judgment and assessment data to anticipate, prioritize, and respond quickly to changing patient conditions.
• Operates, monitors, and adjusts specialized medical equipment and interprets data from monitoring systems.
• Responds to emergencies using established nursing standards, protocols, and life-saving interventions.
• Assesses patient needs, develops and revises individualized care plans, and evaluates patient outcomes.
• Advocates for patients and families while ensuring age-appropriate care across the lifespan.
• Collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary teams and may serve as charge nurse, preceptor, or educator.
• Documents care accurately, delegates tasks appropriately, and ensures compliance with evidence-based practice and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

Education/Training

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing. Meets all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements for Baptist Health unit/department.

Licensure/Certification

• Maintains current State of Alabama RN license or valid eNLC multistate RN license

• Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.

Experience

• Required: At least 1 year of RN experience in an acute care setting
• Preferred: At least 2 years of RN experience in an acute care setting
