Job summary

HCA Florida Brandon Hospital is seeking an EMS Coordinator Registered Nurse to influence patient care through collaboration with managers, hospital councils, and national nursing initiatives. You will be a clinical resource, ensuring safe EMS offloads and smooth patient handoffs to receiving RNs.

Requirements include a BSN, Florida RN license or compact with active FL license within 60 days, BLS, ACLS, PALS/ENPC, NIHSS, TNCC, CPI training within 6 months, and CEN/CPEN preferred.

Qualifications

  • BSN required.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • Current ACLS certification required within 6 months of hire/transfer.
  • Current PALS or ENPC certifications required within 6 months of hire/transfer.
  • Current NIHSS certification required within 6 months of hire/transfer.
  • Current TNCC required within 6 months of hire/transfer.
  • CPI training required within 6 months of hire/transfer.
  • CEN/CPEN national board certifications preferred; required within 6 months of position effective date.

Responsibilities

  • Greeting and offloading EMS arrivals during scheduled shift.
  • Meet Assumption of Care standards set by HCA.
  • Collaborate with EMS partners to improve outcomes and service.
  • Coordinate with Clinical Nurse Coordinator to manage department flow.
  • Provide recommendations related to EMS offloading process.
  • Train and develop relief EMS RNs.
  • Reception of patient and initiation of patient care.
  • Handoff to receiving RN for continuity of care.
  • Serve as clinical resource for staff education when not offloading EMS.
  • Prepare EMS offload area equipment and ensure functionality.
  • Participate in quarterly educational events with Hospital staff and EMS agencies.

Job Summary And Qualifications
What you will do in this role:
  • Responsible for greeting and offloading all EMS arrivals during scheduled shift
  • Meeting Assumption of Care standards as set by HCA
  • Collaborates with EMS partners to create an environment of teamwork that supports improved outcomes and service
  • Assists in managing department flow through coordination with assigned Clinical Nurse Coordinator
  • Provides recommendations related to the EMS offloading process.
  • Recommends and implements courses of action including training and development of relief EMS RNs
  • Responsible for properly reception of the patient and initiating patient care
  • Will properly hand off each patient to receiving RN for continuity of care
  • Functions as a clinical resource for staff members and assist in necessary education of the nursing staff when not offloading EMS
  • Prepares and ensures equipment in the EMS offload area is functional
  • Participates in quarterly educational and training events with Hospital staff and EMS agencies
Requirements:
  • BSN required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a Critical Care or Emergency Department setting required.
  • Must be licensed as a Florida Registered Nurse in accordance with state regulations or appropriate compact licensure. If compact license held, active FL RN license required within 60 days of hire.
  • Previous experience in an acute care setting strongly preferred.
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
  • Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required within 6 months of hire/transfer.
  • Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) and/or ENPC (Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course) certifications required within 6 months of hire/transfer.
  • Current NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certification required within 6 months of hire/transfer.
  • Current TNCC (Trauma Nurse Core Course) required within 6 months of hire/transfer.
  • Current CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) training required within 6 months of hire/transfer.\l
  • CEN/CPEN national board certifications preferred; required within 6 months of position effective date.
  • Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, ability to follow verbal instructions, PC skills
