Job summary

HCA Florida Blake Hospital in Bradenton, FL seeks a Nurse EMS Coordinator to ensure high quality, patient-centered care and oversee nursing operations during shifts. You will collaborate with the management team to direct, monitor, and evaluate nursing care, serving as a resource for staff and upholding the organization’s mission and values.

The role requires ACLS, BLS, CEN, NIH Stroke Scale, crisis intervention, trauma nursing, and ED/ICU experience.

Qualifications

  • Current FL RN license required or appropriate compact license. If compact license held, active FL RN License required within 60 days of hire.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) must be obtained within 6 months of start date
  • NIH Stroke Scale must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
  • 2 years of experience in Critical Care or Emergency Department required
  • Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course or PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date

Responsibilities

  • Assist with admission and discharge processes to ensure efficient throughput and high quality, patient-centered care.
  • Participate in ongoing assessment of quality of patient care services in collaboration with management.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and managers to foster teamwork and improve outcomes.
  • Support a patient-first philosophy and engage in service recovery when needed.
  • Operationalize nursing strategies to improve engagement, including hourly rounds and staff rounding.
  • Provide recommendations on interviewing, training staff, and action plans for performance improvement and discipline when necessary.
  • Assist with staff scheduling and manage labor according to patient care needs and productivity guidelines.
  • Support inventory control and assist with managing supplies and equipment.

Job Summary And Qualifications

The Nurse EMS Coordinator ensures and delivers high quality, patient-centered care and coordination of all functions in the unit/department during the designated shift. In collaboration with other members of the management team, the CNC directs, monitors, and evaluates nursing care in accordance with established policies/procedures, serves as a resource person for staff, and models a commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance.

What you will do in this role:
  • Assists with admission and discharge processes to ensure efficient throughput and high quality, patient-centered care.
  • Participates in the ongoing assessment of the quality of patient care services provided in the unit, in collaboration with other members of the management team.
  • Collaborates with subject matter experts and other managers to create an environment of teamwork that supports improved outcomes and service.
  • Supports a patient-first philosophy and engages in service recovery when necessary.
  • Supports the efforts of the facility to improve engagement by operationalizing current nursing strategies, including employee rounding, hourly rounds, and other initiatives.
  • Provides recommendations related to interviewing, selecting, and training new staff. Recommends and implements courses of action, including training and development, conflict resolution, personnel policy compliance, completion of performance evaluations, and/or disciplinary actions to ensure a competitively better organization.
  • Assists with staff scheduling. Manages all practical aspects of staff labor in accordance with patient care needs and established productivity guidelines.
  • Supports proper inventory control and assists with managing supplies and equipment.
What qualifications you will need:
