Job summary

UAB Medicine, Alabama’s largest health system, is seeking a registered nurse to provide direct patient care in the Behavioral Health - ECT department. The role involves nursing assessments, care planning, and collaborative treatment planning within a multidisciplinary team.

The position currently offers PRN daytime shifts (7:00 am–3:00 pm) with duties at UAB St. Vincent's East, contributing to a high-level behavioral health program and ongoing patient care improvement.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
• Alabama Board of Nursing Licensed Registered Nurse credential required before/at hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to behavioral health patients following facility policies and procedures.
• Perform initial and ongoing bio-psychosocial assessments and develop a nursing plan of care aligned with the master treatment plan.
• Participate in treatment team conferences to plan and revise goals and interventions for patients.
• Implement nursing care plan for assigned patients and co-lead group therapy sessions as needed.
• Evaluate patient responses and revise the nursing plan in collaboration with the treatment team.

Job Description

Provide direct patient care to behavioral health patients in accordance with the established policies and procedures of the facility.

• Perform initial and on-going bio-psychosocial assessments according to accepted standards of nursing practice. Develop a nursing plan of care consistent with the master treatment plan.
• Participate in treatment team conferences to assist in planning and revising goals, objectives and interventions appropriate to the age-related and problem-specific needs of each patient.
• Implement nursing plan of care for assigned patients and conducts and/or co-leads group therapy sessions for patients.
• Evaluate patient's response to interventions and revise nursing plan of care as needed. Collaborate with the treatment team to revise goals, objectives and interventions appropriate to the changes in patient status.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing AND Required professional licensure at time of hire. Must have one year of RN experience.
