• Department: Donor Care / Procurement
• Schedule: PRN Days, Tier 2/3 Available
• Hospital: Ascension Saint Thomas West
• Location: Nashville, TN

What You Will Do

Job Summary:

• Deliver professional nursing care in the operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Perform scrub functions including the selection and handling of instruments and supplies used during procedures.
• Perform circulating functions including monitoring, recording, and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care of the patient before, during, and after procedures.
• Assist the operating physician with surgical tasks including hemostasis, suturing, wound exposure, and patient positioning.
• Prepare operating rooms and surgical instruments and equipment for use.

• Monitor compliance with patient safety, quality initiatives, and regulatory agency requirements. All other duties as assigned.
• Provide direct and indirect patient care through the nursing process, addressing physical and psychosocial needs of patients and their families.

What You Will Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider certification obtained within 1 month (30 days) of hire or transfer, accepted from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• One or more of the following required: Licensed Registered Nurse credential from the Tennessee Board of Nursing OR current home state license for multi-state license recognition "Compact State" obtained prior to hire or transfer.

Education:

• Diploma from an accredited nursing school OR required professional licensure at the time of hire.
