Logan Regional Medical Center in southern West Virginia is seeking an RN Coordinator/Specialist – Trauma to coordinate clinical care and trauma program operations in collaboration with the trauma team, emergency services, surgical staff, and hospital leadership.

This role ensures delivery of high-quality trauma care, supports trauma registry and performance improvement activities, and facilitates compliance with state and national trauma designation standards.

Qualifications

  • RN with state licensure and trauma nursing knowledge.
  • 2+ years acute care nursing with trauma experience.
  • Experience in care coordination or clinical leadership preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate trauma patient care across emergency, surgical, and inpatient units.
  • Collaborate with trauma physicians, emergency department staff, and nursing teams to implement trauma protocols.
  • Participate in trauma rounds, case reviews, and care conferences.
  • Serve as a resource for trauma clinical standards, documentation practices, and regulatory compliance.
  • Support trauma registry abstraction, data accuracy, and documentation for trauma designation compliance.
  • Assist in preparing for trauma surveys and accreditation processes.
  • Provide trauma education and support staff development through training initiatives.
  • Promote quality improvement by monitoring outcomes and supporting corrective actions as needed.
  • Document trauma coordination activities in the EMR and quality systems.

Job Summary
  • The RN Coordinator/Specialist – Trauma is responsible for coordinating clinical care and trauma program operations in collaboration with the trauma team, emergency services, surgical staff, and hospital leadership. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations
  • Strong knowledge of trauma nursing principles, injury scoring, and trauma system regulations.
  • Ability to collaborate across multiple departments and care settings.
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, and data management skills.
  • Familiarity with trauma registry software and EMR systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary trauma team.
Qualifications
Education
  • Postsecondary (Cert/Diploma/Program Grad) from an accredited school of nursing (Required) And
  • Bachelor’s Degree in nursing (Preferred) And
  • Master’s Degree in nursing, healthcare management or administration (Preferred)
Licenses/Certifications
  • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure in state of practice Upon Hire (Required) And
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire (Required) And
  • ATLS - Advanced Trauma Life Support Upon Hire (May be Required-Facility Specific) And
  • TNCC - Trauma Nursing Core Course Upon Hire (May be Required-Facility Specific)
Experience
  • 2+ years acute care nursing experience with trauma patient care (Required) And
  • Prior Experience in care coordination, quality improvement, or clinical leadership (Preferred)
