The Night Shift Nursing Supervisor is a qualified Registered Nurse with Geriatric experience who directs all of the night shift nursing staff.
Manages four subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of 15‑20 employees in the nursing units. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this department. Also directly supervises two non‑supervisory employees.
Responsibility for the overall supervision of the facility during the shift in the absence of administrative staff and other department heads, and communicating promptly with administration and other department supervisors as necessary.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Registered Nurse with three to five years experience, preferably in Geriatrics. Previous supervisory experience preferred.
Must maintain current Basic Cardiopulmonary Life Support.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, residents, staff, family members and the general public.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagrammatic form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Must possess a valid Pennsylvania nursing license.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Conforms to established work hours and maintains an acceptable work attendance record.
Must be able to function independently.
The employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit or use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
