A leading healthcare provider in Indianapolis is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This role involves caring for patients with complex medical needs, managing nursing responsibilities, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. Job Description –
IU Health is now offering charge pay, which is a $3.00 bill rate bump per hour. Call-ins: If a traveler call-ins for a contracted shift, the traveler is expected to 1) make up the day during the pay period if a 0.9 FTE, or 2) if a 0.9 FTE and unable to make up during the pay period, then the shift will be added at the end of the traveler contract. 3) If a 1.2 FTE, any call-in shifts will be added to the end of the contract.
Locals: NOT accepted.
Weekends: Travelers are expected to work every other week per their contract. Pending operational needs, consecutive weekends may be needed based on the greatest need.
Charge coverage: Pending operational needs, unit charge nurse responsibilities may be needed with provided training and resources.
Certification Requirements: ACLS and BCLS
Skillset Requirements: Minimum 2 years of experience; will consider MedSurg RN with ICU and PCU patient experience with an additional two years.
Floating Requirements: Unit travelers may be expected to float to different levels of care (Med-Surg, PCU, ICU) with resources provided if needed at both University and Methodist Hospitals.
Staffing Ratios: PCU assignments are 1:4 and MedSurg assignments are 1:5-6. Sometimes, due to the skill set of the staff, assignments may include a mix of MedSurg and PCU patients with 4-5 patients.
Unit Information: 32-bed, mixed model unit with 15 PCU beds and 17 MedSurg beds. Focus on cardio-pulmonary care, including cardiac medical, valve replacements, COPD, CHF, pulmonary fibrosis, lung cancer, lung transplant, trach-to-vent, neurodegenerative diseases, trauma, flu, TB, and COVID-19.
Effective 9/1, COVID vaccine is required for all travelers at IU Health campuses. Declinations are not accepted; medical or religious exemptions with a doctor's note are required.
Effective 11/30/24, IU Health will not allow IN RNs to work at their facilities, with some exceptions for Periop/OR RNs, Allied, and Ambulatory RNs.
Shift Info: Day 3×12-Hour (07:00 – 19:30)
