Job summary

LewisGale Medical Center in Salem, VA, is seeking an experienced RN House Supervisor to ensure exceptional care for OR patients. You will respond to emergencies, apply clinical judgment, and coordinate admissions, transfers, and staffing with the healthcare team.

You will coach staff, support quality initiatives, and uphold nursing administration functions while aligning with the hospital's strategic plans. This role emphasizes patient-centered care and collaboration across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Four years’ experience as a Registered Nurse is required.
• Diploma or Associates Degree from a professional nursing program (required)
• BSN or current enrollment in BSN program (preferred)
• Current licensure as an RN in the state of Virginia or current multi-state compact RN license with eligibility to practice in VA is required.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider (required)
• No Travel Required

Responsibilities

• Respond to potential and/or actual emergencies with direct and appropriate actions; act as initial incident commander in disaster/emergency events.
• Display strong and accurate clinical judgment and follow policies including confidentiality.
• Facilitate patient admissions, transfers and staffing needs.
• Provide coaching and manage staff performance as opportunities arise.
• Support Quality Initiatives and evidence-based practice.
• Support hospital and nursing annual strategic plans, professional practice model, shared governance and nursing administrative functions.
• Collaborate with patients, families, and the healthcare team to coordinate care for an effective plan of care.

Job Summary and Qualifications

• As a member of our team, you will respond to potential and/or actual emergencies with direct and appropriate actions. Is familiar with the incident command structure and is able to perform as initial incident commander in disaster/emergency events.
• You will display your strong and accurate clinical judgment and expert-nursing skills while following company polices including those related to confidentiality (written, verbal, electronic and digital).
• In collaboration with your healthcare team, you will facilitate patient admissions, transfers and staffing needs.
• You will provide coaching and manage staff performance as opportunities arise.
• As a House Supervisor in this unit, you will support staff in adoption of all Quality Initiatives and evidence-based practice.
• You will support hospital and nursing annual strategic plans, professional practice model, shared governance and essential nursing administrative functions.
• In order to provide a great patient experience, you will collaborate with patients, families, and the healthcare team to coordinate care for an effective and current plan of care.

Requirements:

• Four years’ experience as a Registered Nurse is required.
• Diploma or Associates Degree from a professional nursing program (required)
• BSN or current enrollment in a BSN program at an accredited school of Nursing (preferred)
• Current licensure as an RN in the state of Virginia or current multi-state compact RN license with eligibility to practice in VA is required.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider (required)
• No Travel Required
