Job summary

LewisGale Medical Center in Salem, VA is hiring an experienced RN Emergency Services Manager to lead the emergency department team and ensure exceptional patient care. You will oversee staffing, standards, orientation, and cross-department coordination to maintain a high-quality patient experience.

The role requires RN licensure in Virginia or active multi-state compact, BSN preferred, and current BLS; additional certifications (ACLS, PALS, Trauma Nursing Core Course) are required or must be

Qualifications

• Diploma or Associate Degree in nursing required.
• BSN preferred or current enrollment in BSN program.
• Current Virginia RN licensure or multi-state compact eligibility to practice in VA.
• American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider required.
• Trauma Nursing Core Course.
• ACLS Instructor eligibility to be obtained within 1 year of start date.
• BCLS Instructor to be obtained within 30 days of start date.
• PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support or Instructor within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Manage the unit in the absence of the Director.
• Plan resources based on workload and extraneous activities.
• Assist in development/review/revision of unit standards.
• Assist with interviewing, hiring and evaluating staff per policy and licensure requirements.
• Coordinate orientation for new employees, students and volunteers.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure a great patient experience.

Education

Job Summary And Qualifications

You will assume responsibility for the management of the unit in the absence of the Director.

As a member of our team, you will be accountable for planning for adequate resources based on workload and extraneous activities.

You will assist in the development/review/revision of unit standards.

As a manager, you will assist with interviewing, hiring and evaluating staff per policy and helps ensure licensure; competencies and mandatory in services for staff are current.

In collaboration with your healthcare team, you will facilitate in orientation of new employees, students and volunteers.

In order to provide a great patient experience, you will maintain open communication with other departments to coordinate efficient patient care.

Requirements

• Diploma or Associates Degree from a professional nursing program (required)
• BSN or current enrollment in a BSN program at an accredited school of Nursing (preferred)
• Current licensure as an RN in the state of Virginia or current multi-state compact RN license with eligibility to practice in VA is required.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider (required)
• Trauma Nursing Core Course
• Advanced Cardiac Life Spt, or ACLS Instructor must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date
• Basic Cardiac Life Support, or BCLS Instructor must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt, or PALS Instructor must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date
