Job summary

LewisGale Medical Center, part of HCA Healthcare, in Salem, VA, seeks an experienced Nurse Manager to lead the unit in the Director's absence and ensure optimal patient care and staffing. You will plan resources, develop standards, and participate in hiring and staff evaluations.

Collaborating with the healthcare team, you will orient new employees, students, and volunteers, maintaining strong inter-department communication for efficient patient care.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Associates Degree from a professional nursing program.
• BSN or current enrollment in a BSN program at an accredited school of Nursing.
• Current RN license in the state of Virginia or current multi-state compact RN license with eligibility to practice in VA.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider.
• Trauma Nursing Core Course.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Instructor must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support, or BCLS Instructor must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support, or PALS Instructor must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date.

Responsibilities

• You will assume responsibility for the management of the unit in the absence of the Director.
• As a member of our team, you will be accountable for planning for adequate resources based on workload and extraneous activities.
• You will assist in the development/review/revision of unit standards.
• As a manager, you will assist with interviewing, hiring and evaluating staff per policy and helps ensure licensure; competencies and mandatory in services for staff are current.
• In collaboration with your healthcare team, you will facilitate in orientation of new employees, students and volunteers.
• In order to provide a great patient experience, you will maintain open communication with other departments to coordinate efficient patient care

Education

Diploma or Associates Degree from a professional nursing program

BSN or current enrollment in a BSN program at an accredited school of Nursing
