Job summary

University Hospitals in Shaker Heights, OH seeks an RN PRN-Bed Management to support bed management system-wide from the UH Management Services Center (on-site, not remote).

The RN provides clinical assessment for patient placement, coordinates transfers with receiving facilities and transport resources, and collaborates across disciplines to optimize patient flow and outcomes. Leadership and exceptional customer service are essential.

Qualifications

  • Uses a wide variety of technical equipment to meet patient needs and prescribed clinical therapies.

Responsibilities

  • Manage patient transfers and placement through Bed Management system.
  • Coordinate incoming patient transfer requests with receiving facility, physicians, and transport resources.
  • Provide clinical assessment for patients being placed through the Center for Patient Flow Management (CPFM).
  • Demonstrates leadership and facilitates communication to optimize patient care and clinical operations.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service while coordinating across multiple disciplines.
  • Promote best-place-to-work culture and professional environment.
  • Radio coordination with Air Medical programs and UH Critical Care Transport; dispatch of UH Critical Care Transport ambulances.

RN PRN-Bed Management - ( 260007SV )

This PRN RN position supports Bed Management system-wide and is located in the UH Management Services Center in Shaker Heights (not remote).

Responsible for performing aspects of the Patient Flow Management process ensuring that transfers, patient placement and related activities occur in a timely, safe and accurate fashion. This includes providing clinical assessment for patients being placed through the Center for Patient Flow Management.

Coordination of incoming patient transfer requests with receiving facility, physicians, and necessary transport resources

Demonstrates technical skills in care delivery that result in safe practice and positive care outcomes

Demonstrates clear communication and effective collaboration to optimize patient care and clinical operations

Displays leadership that influences optimal clinical and operational outcomes

Delivering exceptional customer service while facilitating communication across multiple disciplines

Possess and obtain working knowledge of external and inter-facility protocols and standards of practice

Work with all Center for Patient Flow Management (CPFM) staff in a team orientated, collaborative approach

Responsible for promoting a Best Place to Work Culture and positive and professional work environment

Radio communication and coordination with multiple agencies, including Air Medical programs and UH Critical Care Transport

Dispatch of UH Critical Care Transport ambulances

Other duties as assigned

Experience
  • 1 year of RN experience required
  • ICU or ED experience preferred
Education
  • Other Accredited Program: Diploma in Nursing or
  • (ADN) Associate's Degree in Nursing (Required)
  • (BSN) Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Preferred)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Knowledge of nursing process and practice. (Required proficiency)
  • Uses a wide variety of technical equipment to meet patient needs and prescribed clinical therapies (ie. stethoscopes, thermometers, sphygmomanometers and electronic monitoring devices. (Required proficiency)
Licenses and Certifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN), Ohio and/or Multi State Compact License (Required Upon Hire) and
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required Upon Hire)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) May be required based on the clinical care standards of the unit. Refer to ACLS/PALS Unit Requirements document found on DWP Nursing Portal to determine requirements by unit.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) May be required based on the clinical care standards of the unit. Refer to ACLS/PALS Unit Requirements document found on DWP Nursing Portal to determine requirements by unit.
