Job summary

University Hospitals Pain Management in Shaker Heights is seeking a PRN RN to support Bed Management system-wide at the UH Management Services Center. The role focuses on patient flow management, transfers, and safe, timely placement.

The RN will perform clinical assessments, communicate across disciplines, and help coordinate transport, including UH Critical Care Transport, to promote optimal care and a Best Place to Work culture.

Qualifications

• Licensed Registered Nurse in Ohio.
• Experience with patient flow and interfacility transfers preferred.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate incoming patient transfer requests with receiving facility, physicians, and transport resources.
• Demonstrates clinical skills for safe patient care and outcomes.
• Communicate clearly to optimize patient care and operations.

Job description

This PRN RN position supports Bed Management system-wide and is located in the UH Management Services Center in Shaker Heights (not remote).

Responsible for performing aspects of the Patient Flow Management process ensuring that transfers, patient placement and related activities occur in a timely, safe and accurate fashion. This includes providing clinical assessment for patients being placed through the Center for Patient Flow Management.

Position Summary/Essential Duties:

1. Coordination of incoming patient transfer requests with receiving facility, physicians, and necessary transport resources

2. Demonstrates technical skills in care delivery that result in safe practice and positive care outcomes

3. Demonstrates clear communication and effective collaboration to optimize patient care and clinical operations

4. Displays leadership that influences optimal clinical and operational outcomes

5. Delivering exceptional customer service while facilitating communication across multiple disciplines

6. Possess and obtain working knowledge of external and inter-facility protocols and standards of practice

7. Work with all Center for Patient Flow Management (CPFM) staff in a team orientated, collaborative approach

8. Responsible for promoting a Best Place to Work Culture and positive and professional work environment

9. Radio communication and coordination with multiple agencies, including Air Medical programs and UH Critical Care Transport

10. Dispatch of UH Critical Care Transport ambulances

11. Other duties as assigned
