Job summary

Huntsville Hospital's Pediatrics unit is seeking a registered nurse for a 38-bed pediatric floor serving patients up to 21 years old. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to deliver age-appropriate medical care and family support.

Qualified candidates have Alabama RN licensure, BLS and PALS; new graduates are welcome. A strong education culture and opportunities for growth are offered within a nationally recognized health system.

Qualifications

• Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing with current Alabama licensure.
• BLS required before the conclusion of the orientation period.
• PALS required within one year of hire.
• Experience preferred; new graduates accepted.

Responsibilities

• Assess a patient’s condition and detect changes, recognizing when further intervention is necessary.
• Provide age-appropriate emotional support and medical care to infants, children, adolescents and young adults up to 21 years.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including Pediatric Hospitalists, NPs, residents and therapists.

Job description

Pediatrics is a 38 bed medical surgical floor located within Women and Children's Hospital. Our nurses focus on the medical needs and treatment of infants, children, adolescents, and young adults up to 21 years of age. Their specialized training allows them to provide their patients and families with age appropriate emotional support and medical care. Our nurses are part of a multidisciplinary team that includes Pediatric Hospitalists, Nurse Practitioners, Residents, Physical Therapists, Respiratory Therapists, Pharmacists, Dieticians, Social Workers and Child Life Therapy. The pediatric nurse must be caring, compassionate, and have critical thinking skills. The nurse will need to assess a patient’s condition as well as detect any changes and will need to recognize when further intervention is necessary. Our department provides educational opportunities to promote a solid foundation in caring for our patients.
