Job summary

Memorial Hermann Endoscopy Cypress is hiring an RN PreOp. The PreOp RN provides quality patient care using the nursing process within perioperative services for all patient populations.

The RN reports to the Manager of Peri‑operative Services and supports the organization’s mission and values. The role includes pre‑op assessments, IV starts, medication administration, and coordination with anesthesia providers and surgeons to ensure safe, efficient care.

Qualifications

  • Must be a Registered Nurse with an unrestricted license in the state.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • 1–3 years’ PreOP/PACU experience; ambulatory center preferred.
  • Current BLS, ALS, and PALS certifications.
  • Knowledge of aseptic technique and perioperative care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide attentive pre‑operative care to patients.
  • Conduct comprehensive pre‑op assessments & med/allergy review.
  • Initiate IVs, administer medications, document pre‑op care.
  • Reinforce pre‑op instructions and support patients/families.
  • Coordinate with anesthesia, surgeons, and RNs for care.
  • Ensure infection control and patient safety standards.
  • Complete pre‑op documentation and consents.

Memorial Hermann Endoscopy Cypress is hiring an RN PreOp. Welcome to Memorial Hermann Endoscopy Cypress. We have 1 OR room and 3 Procedure rooms. We perform outpatient surgical procedures in gastroenterology. Position requires weekdays only – no holidays, weekends, or call. Some early mornings and later evenings may be required; schedule subject to change based on surgical schedule and flow of the day.

Job Summary

The PreOp RN is a Registered Nurse that provides quality patient care using the nursing process, the medical plan of care, and organizational policies. The RN provides safe, effective, and quality patient‑family centered care in the perioperative services for all patient populations. The RN supports the mission, vision, and values of the organization. The RN reports to the Manager of Peri‑operative Services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide attentive and efficient care to patients in the pre‑operative phase
  • Conduct comprehensive pre‑op assessments, including patient history, medications, and allergies
  • Initiate IVs, administer medications, and ensure accurate pre‑op documentation
  • Reinforce pre‑operative instructions and provide emotional support to patients and families
  • Communicate effectively with anesthesia providers, surgeons, and fellow RNs to ensure coordinated patient care
  • Maintain compliance with infection control, medication safety, and patient safety standards
  • Ensure all necessary pre‑op documentation and consents are completed before surgery
  • Monitor and respond to any changes in patient condition prior to surgery
Qualifications
  • Must be a Registered Nurse with an unrestricted license in the state
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Must have at least 1‑3 years’ previous experience in PreOP/PACU
  • Previous experience in an ambulatory surgical center strongly preferred
  • Must have current BLS, ALS, and PALS
  • Must possess a strong knowledge of surgical procedures and management of the surgical patient
  • Understanding of aseptic techniques and their implementation
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing condition of the patient when needed
