Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for Pre-Admission to join our ambulatory surgical team. The role supports patient care planning and coordination before procedures, under the guidance of the PACU Nurse Manager.

You will perform comprehensive assessments, collect histories, and collaborate with anesthesia to ensure patient readiness. Ideal candidates are graduates from an accredited nursing program, hold an active RN license, and have strong clinical skills and teamwork abilities.

Qualifications

• Certified RN with current license in state of practice.
• BLS certification from American Heart Association.
• Strong clinical skills and ability to work in a team environment.
• 1 year RN experience required.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient prior to admission via phone or in person.
• Collect patient medical history from records.
• Coordinate patient needs with anesthesia department.
• Provide direct patient care for all age groups.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care per plan.
• Assist physicians in delivering treatment across settings.

Position Overview:

Under the direct supervision of the Ambulatory Surgery Center/PACU Nurse Manager, the Pre-Admission Nurse performs:

• Assessment with the patient prior to admission via a phone interview or in person
• Collects the patients medical history from previous medical records
• Works closely with the anesthesia department in coordinating the patient's needs
• Performs direct patient care activities for all age groups.
• Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the care for patients in accordance with the plan of care, established hospital and departmental policies, procedures, and standards of care.
• Provides care for the patients as well as assisting physicians in providing treatment to patients in various medical settings.
• Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program
• Licensure: Current RN license in the state of practice
• Experience: Minimum of 1 year of RN experience
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association
• Other Skills: Strong clinical skills, effective communication, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Preferred:

• Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Certifications: ACLS, PALS, and NRP (required for areas where applicable; must be maintained current)
• Experience: At least 1 year of RN experience
