Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) – Pre-Admission to join our ambulatory surgery setting. You’ll conduct pre-admission assessments, gather histories, and coordinate with anesthesia to ensure smooth patient flow.

You will provide direct care across ages and participate in planning and evaluating the plan of care under nurse manager supervision. Qualified candidates will have an accredited nursing program degree, an active RN license in Missouri, and at least 1 year of RN experience with a

• Minimum of 1 year RN experience; BLS certification required.
• BSN preferred; ACLS/PALS/NRP may be required in applicable areas.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient prior to admission via phone interview or in person.
• Collect patient medical history from prior records.
• Coordinate with anesthesia to meet patient needs.
• Provide direct patient care for all age groups per plan of care.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care in line with hospital policies.

Position Overview:

Under the direct supervision of the Ambulatory Surgery Center/PACU Nurse Manager, the Pre-Admission Nurse performs:

• Assessment with the patient prior to admission via a phone interview or in person
• Collects the patients medical history from previous medical records
• Works closely with the anesthesia department in coordinating the patient's needs
• Performs direct patient care activities for all age groups.
• Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the care for patients in accordance with the plan of care, established hospital and departmental policies, procedures, and standards of care.
• Provides care for the patients as well as assisting physicians in providing treatment to patients in various medical settings.
• Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program
• Licensure: Current RN license in the state of practice
• Experience: Minimum of 1 year of RN experience
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association
• Other Skills: Strong clinical skills, effective communication, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Preferred:

• Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Certifications: ACLS, PALS, and NRP (required for areas where applicable; must be maintained current)
• Experience: At least 1 year of RN experience
