Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for Pre-Admission in its Ambulatory Surgery Center. The role involves performing assessments prior to admission, coordinating with anesthesia, and delivering direct patient care across age groups.

You will work under the Nurse Manager and contribute to a unified care plan. The successful candidate will have an accredited nursing degree, an active RN license in the state, and at least 1 year of RN experience, with BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current RN license in the state of practice.
• Minimum of 1 year of RN experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients prior to admission via phone interview or in person.
• Collect patient medical history from records and coordinate with anesthesia.
• Provide direct patient care for all ages and implement the plan of care.
• Evaluate outcomes and ensure care aligns with hospital policies and standards.
• Collaborate with physicians and care teams to meet patient needs.

Position Overview:

Under the direct supervision of the Ambulatory Surgery Center/PACU Nurse Manager, the Pre-Admission Nurse performs:Assessment with the patient prior to admission via a phone interview or in personCollects the patients medical history from previous medical recordsWorks closely with the anesthesia department in coordinating the patient's needsPerforms direct patient care activities for all age groups.Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the care for patients in accordance with the plan of care, established hospital and departmental policies, procedures, and standards of care.Provides care for the patients as well as assisting physicians in providing treatment to patients in various medical settings.Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Licensure:

Current RN license in the state of practice

Experience:

Minimum of 1 year of RN experience

Certifications:

Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association

Preferred:

Education:

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Certifications:

ACLS, PALS, and NRP (required for areas where applicable; must be maintained current)

Experience:

At least 1 year of RN experience
