Job summary

Mercy is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for Pre-Admission to support ambulatory surgery centers. The role involves screening, history collection, and coordinating with anesthesia to ensure smooth patient flow. You will provide age-appropriate nursing care under supervision.

Requires an accredited nursing program graduate, current RN license, and at least 1 year of RN experience with BLS. BSN and advanced certifications are preferred where applicable.

Qualifications

• Education: graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Licensure: current RN license in state of practice.
• Experience: minimum of 1 year RN experience; BLS required.
• Preferred: BSN; ACLS/PALS/NRP where applicable; maintain current.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient prior to admission via phone or in person.
• Collect patient medical history from records.
• Coordinate patient needs with anesthesia department.
• Provide direct patient care for all age groups.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care per plan and policies.
• Assist physicians in providing treatment in various settings.

Position Overview:

Under the direct supervision of the Ambulatory Surgery Center/PACU Nurse Manager, the Pre-Admission Nurse performs:

• Assessment with the patient prior to admission via a phone interview or in person
• Collects the patients medical history from previous medical records
• Works closely with the anesthesia department in coordinating the patient's needs
• Performs direct patient care activities for all age groups.
• Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the care for patients in accordance with the plan of care, established hospital and departmental policies, procedures, and standards of care.
• Provides care for the patients as well as assisting physicians in providing treatment to patients in various medical settings.
• Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program
• Licensure: Current RN license in the state of practice
• Experience: Minimum of 1 year of RN experience
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association
• Other Skills: Strong clinical skills, effective communication, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Preferred:

• Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Certifications: ACLS, PALS, and NRP (required for areas where applicable; must be maintained current)
• Experience: At least 1 year of RN experience
