Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services is seeking a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support plasma center operations in Chesapeake, VA. You will determine donor eligibility, manage donor adverse events, review lab results, and notify donors of unsuitable outcomes.

The role operates under the Center Manager and Center Physician with EHS guidance. Requirements include RN/NP/PA licensure, CPR/AED, basic IV therapy standards, and at least two years in a clinical setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; nursing program completion.
• Current RN/NP/PA licensure in the state of responsibility.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility including consent, medical history, and tests.
• Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies per SOPs.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical issues.
• Support vaccination programs for employees where applicable.
• Manage occupational health incidents with EHS guidance.
• Possibly serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized.
