Job summary

OrthoArkansas is seeking a Perioperative RN to provide comprehensive nursing care to patients throughout the surgical experience at our Ambulatory Surgery Center in Little Rock. You will assess, plan, and deliver perioperative care in preop, intraop, and recovery, collaborating with surgeons and anesthesia to ensure safety and comfort.

Responsibilities

• Organize and manage surgery center resources.
• Delegate nursing tasks based on staff abilities and qualifications.
• Utilize medical equipment effectively and adhere to accepted standards of practice.
• Maintain cleanliness and order in the surgery center.
• Obtain and review patient records and conduct preoperative assessments.
• Provide clear preoperative instructions, explain procedures, and obtain informed consent.
• Perform preoperative testing and promptly report abnormal values.
• Transport patients to the operating room with comfort and privacy.
• Prepare the procedure room according to patient and procedure requirements.
• Assess patient status, assist with positioning, and support anesthesia administration.
• Perform duties as a circulating, scrub, or conscious sedation nurse.
• Assist in site identification and confirm the time-out procedure.
• Document post-anesthesia care and monitor patients during recovery.
• Inform the surgical team of any complications and discharge readiness.
• Review postoperative instructions with patients and families.

Position Overview:

The Perioperative Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to patients throughout the surgical experience, from admission to discharge, within the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC). This role involves assessing patient status, administering care, monitoring progress, and effectively communicating with the surgical team to ensure patient safety and comfort.

Qualifications:

• Education and Experience:
  
  
  
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  
  
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) preferred.
  
  
  • 12 to 18 months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  
  
• Required Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
  
  
  
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) License.
  
  
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  
  
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  
  
• Preferred Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
  
  
  
  • Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR).
  
  
  • BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing).
  
  
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support).
