Job summary

vTech Solution seeks a Registered Nurse for our Perioperative Outpatient Surgical Center to provide comprehensive nursing care across preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases. You will advocate for patients, perform assessments, administer medications, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to ensure safe, efficient care.

This role requires at least 2 years in perioperative or surgical settings, strong documentation via EMR, and excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse license in the state of employment.
  • Minimum of 2 years nursing experience, preferably in perioperative or surgical settings.
  • Clinical skills in patient assessment, IV therapy, and medication administration.
  • Proficient in documentation and use of electronic medical records.
  • Strong communication and patient education skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assess physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of patients.
  • Implement nursing care plans and treat identified problems using professional judgment.
  • Communicate patient assessments and coordinate care with appropriate healthcare team members.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of diagnostic measures including labs, radiology, and EKG, and perform IV therapy.
  • Transcribe and implement physician orders accurately and timely during patient admission to the surgical center.
  • Document patient clinical records accurately and ensure all required surgical documentation and site marking are complete.
  • Provide patient and family education regarding procedures and care instructions.
  • Manage supplies and equipment efficiently to control costs without compromising patient care quality.
  • Assist with housekeeping duties such as cleaning and bed preparation as needed.
  • Provide nursing care in the PACU, including airway maintenance, vital signs monitoring, pain control, and consultation with surgeons and anesthesiologists.
  • Evaluate patients using discharge criteria to safely transition them to Phase 2 recovery.
  • Facilitate patient transfers to medical centers when necessary.
  • Serve as a float nurse to support staffing needs, maintain communication, and ensure workflow efficiency.
  • Work in specialized areas such as pain management and eye laser procedure rooms as assigned.
  • Assist with anesthesia supplies, nerve blocks, and emergency equipment including crash and malignant hyperthermia carts.
  • Participate in committee meetings, suggest improvements, and seek guidance as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
