Job summary

Astrana Health in Tustin, CA is seeking an Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) to deliver patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment. The ED RN assesses, plans, and evaluates care, collaborating with physicians and the care team to manage acute illness, injuries, and emergencies.

You will perform triage, administer medications, monitor patients, educate families, document in the EHR, and ensure safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Active, current, and unrestricted California RN license.
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current American Heart Association certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS.
• Minimum of one year of emergency nursing knowledge or completion of an Emergency Department training program, including EMTALA and ESI Level 5 triage training.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to work flexible schedules including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• De-escalation certification required upon hire; SAMA certification upon recertification.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, triage, and ongoing monitoring of patients presenting with a variety of medical conditions.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans.
• Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and treatments per physician orders and protocols.
• Respond rapidly to emergency situations, including codes and trauma activations.
• Monitor patient conditions and communicate changes to the healthcare team.
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation in the EHR.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies and patient safety standards.

What You'll Do

• Respond rapidly to emergency situations, including codes, trauma activations, and critical care interventions.
• Monitor patient conditions and communicate changes promptly to the healthcare team.
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions.
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, ancillary departments, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation within the electronic health record (EHR).
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and patient safety standards.
• Provide compassionate care while maintaining professionalism in high-stress situations.

Qualifications

• Active, current, and unrestricted California Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) certifications:
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• Minimum of one (1) year of emergency nursing knowledge and experience, or successful completion of an Emergency Department training program, including:
• EMTALA training
• Emergency Severity Index (ESI) Level 5 triage training (to be completed within the first six months of employment in the Emergency Department)
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to maintain composure, adaptability, and sound judgment in a fast-paced, changing environment
• De‑escalation certification required upon hire; SAMA certification required upon recertification.

Environmental Job Requirements and Working Conditions

• Our organization follows an in person work structure where the expectation is to work onsite on a weekly basis. The hospital is located at 14662 Newport Ave, Tustin, CA 92780.
• The total compensation target pay range for this role is $54.85 per hour. The salary range represents our national target range for this role.
