Job summary

University of Maryland Medical System is seeking a Registered Nurse in Maryland to provide and coordinate independent patient care within a clinical specialty. The role requires licensure in Maryland (or eligibility), BLS certification, and at least 2 years of RN experience, with an ADN as the base nursing degree.

Responsibilities include collaboration within a multidisciplinary team and meeting a 96-hour/4-week schedule including weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Job Requirements

Provide and coordinate independent care to patients within a clinical specialty as a fully effective and participative member of the multidisciplinary patient care services team. This job commitment is 96 hours within each four (4) week scheduling period, which includes four (4) 12-hour weekend shifts. It also includes one (1) summer holiday and one (1) winter holiday per calendar year.

Work Experience

Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Maryland, or eligible to practice nursing in Maryland due to Compact state agreements outlined through the Maryland Board of Nursing.

• Unit-based licensure as required for the role defined at the unit/department level. Examples include but are not limited to Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NPR), Certification in Pre-Transport/Post-Resuscitation Stabilization Care of Sick Infants for Neonatal Healthcare Providers (STABLE), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Trauma 101, etc.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Two (2) years of nursing experience as a licensed Registered Nurse.
• An associate degree in nursing.
• Maintenance of ten (10) contact hours of continuing education every two (2) years.

Education & Experience - Preferred Provide the preferred education that includes the discipline(s). Provide the preferred year(s) and type(s) of experience (do not use a range). Provide preferred certifications and/or licensures.

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Three (3) to Five (5) years of experience in a specific specialty such as critical care, med/surg, or pediatrics.
