Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Main Campus seeks an RN for the M43/M53 PICU, a 25-bed unit caring for medical/surgical, transplant and pediatric heart patients, with PRN hours and 48 hours to be worked over six weeks. You will interact with patients, families and staff, provide direct nursing care, and actively participate in care planning and education in a fast-paced environment.

Minimum qualifications include an accredited nursing program, current Ohio RN licensure, and prescreen competency.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing.
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • External applicants: two years of recent related nursing experience.
  • Internal applicants with less than two years’ experience may be considered with review and approval by Chief Nursing Officer.
  • Will consider military RN experience.
  • Pass all prescreen competency assessments.
  • BLS Certification through AHA or Red Cross.
  • ACLS and PALS required within one year of hire.

The M43/M53 Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is a 25-bed nursing unit that provides care to medical/surgical, transplant, bone marrow transplant and adult congenital heart patients and administers chemotherapy. As an RN, you will assist fellow caregivers in providing exceptional care, from initial introduction to discharge. In this role, you will interact directly with patients, families and visitors, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education as needed. All the while, you will continue growing as an RN and gaining extensive hands‑on experience in a fast‑paced, rapidly evolving healthcare setting.

How You’ll Benefit

A caregiver in this position PRN (as needed) variable shifts. You must work 48 hours within a six-week period.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:
  • Provide direct nursing care.
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions.
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • External applicants: two years of recent related nursing experience
  • Internal applicants with less than two years’ experience, but post orientation/90-day probationary period, could be considered with the Chief Nursing Officer level review and approval
  • Will consider military RN experience
  • Successfully pass all prescreen competency assessments
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross upon or within one year of hire
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Physical Requirements
  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Personal Protective Equipment
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $43.00

Maximum hourly: $43.00
