Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital for Rehabilitation is seeking a PRN caregiver RN to join a pediatric inpatient rehabilitation program. You will provide direct nursing care, implement and update care plans, monitor patient conditions, and educate families.

This role requires RN licensure, BLS certification, 2+ years of nursing experience, and eventual attainment of Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Shifts are 12 hours with day/evening/night and weekend coverage.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN)
• Current state RN licensure
• BLS Certification through AHA or Red Cross
• External applicants must have two years nursing experience
• Within one year of hire RNs will achieve Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• Prescreen competency assessments

Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital for Rehabilitation has a family-centered pediatric inpatient rehabilitation program that provides care and rehabilitation to patients ranging from infancy to age 21 who require hospitalization or acute rehabilitation. This team’s care centers around patients with traumatic brain injuries, epilepsy surgery patients, spinal cord injuries, orthopaedic rehabilitation needs, spinal fusions and traction, complex injuries, neurologic disorders requiring rehabilitation, and burns.

A PRN caregiver in this position works (12 hours shifts) day/evening/night/weekend, from 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. Or 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. Will work weekends and holidays.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Provide direct nursing care.
• Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.
• Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
• Educate patients and their families.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program)
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross
• External applicants must have two years recent related nursing experience
• Internal applicants with less than two years’ experience but post orientation /90 day probationary period could be considered with Chief Nursing Officer level review and approval
• Within one year of hire RNs in Children's Hospital and Children's Hospital for Rehabilitation will achieve and maintain Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
• Successfully pass all prescreen competency assessments

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN)
• Rehab and/or Peds experience

Physical Requirements

• Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
• Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
• Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
• Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
• Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $43.00

Maximum hourly: $43.00
