Job summary

Johns Hopkins Intrastaff is seeking an experienced PICU nurse for a full-time 13-week contract at the Johns Hopkins Hospital-Bloomberg Children’s Center. The role involves delivering high-acuity care in a 1:1 or 2:1 setting for critically ill pediatric patients with complex medical conditions.

Requirements include 2 years PICU experience (including at least 1 travel assignment), current Maryland RN license or compact state, and CPR credentials (BLS, PALS, ACLS).

Qualifications

• 2 years of PICU experience, including at least 1 travel assignment.
• Current registered nurse license in Maryland or a compact state.
• Current CPR; BLS, PALS, ACLS.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized nursing care for patients with complex medical conditions in PICU.
• Care for patients undergoing a wide range of surgical procedures, including cardiac, thoracic, transplant, orthopedic and neurologic surgeries.
• Administer and monitor continuous infusions and intermittent medications (narcotics, vasopressors, diuretics, PN/ Lipids, IVP, PCA, oral, enteral).
• Assess, monitor, and respond to changes in patient condition using critical thinking and evidence-based nursing practices.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
• Deliver high-acuity patient care in a critical care environment with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:1 or 2:1.

The Johns Hopkins Hospital- Bloomberg Children’s Center- Pediatric ICU (PICU)

Level 1- Designated Burn, Trauma, and Eye center for State of Maryland

Unit description- Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit; Newborn to 21

Schedule- Full-time 13 week contract

Pay Rate- $80/hr.

• Provide specialized nursing care for patients with complex medical conditions, including respiratory failure, metabolic disorders, seizure disorders, multi-organ failure, shock, toxic ingestions, ECMO therapy, and ventricular assist devices (VADs).
• Care for patients recovering from or undergoing a wide range of surgical procedures, including general, cardiac, thoracic, transplant, orthopedic, and neurologic surgeries.
• Administer and monitor continuous infusions and intermittent medications, including narcotics, vasopressors, diuretics, parenteral nutrition/lipids (PN/IL), IV push (IVP) medications, patient-controlled analgesia (PCA), oral medications, and enteral medications via gastric/jejunal tubes (GT/JT).
• Assess, monitor, and respond to changes in patient condition using critical thinking and evidence-based nursing practices.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
• Deliver high-acuity patient care in a critical care environment with patient-to-nurse ratios of 1:1 or 2:1, depending on patient acuity and clinical needs.

Required

• 2 years of recent PICU experience; including at least 1 travel assignment
• Current registered nurse license in the state of Maryland, or licensed in a compact state
• Current CPR certification; BLS, PALS, ACLS
