Job summary

KARIER is seeking an experienced Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN) for a full-time, on-site night shift in Montana. The role focuses on high-quality patient care in a stepdown medical/surgical setting with strong nurse-to-patient ratios and collaborative teamwork.

Responsibilities include direct nursing care for complex patients, discharge planning, and mentoring less experienced staff. Requires Montana RN license, BLS/ACLS/PALS, and post-graduate PCU/ICU experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred).
• Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the State of Montana (or immediate compact/endorsement eligibility).
• Core certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are required (or must be obtained within 6 months of hire). EPNC and TNCC certifications are highly preferred.
• Proven post-graduate clinical practice in an advanced Medical/Surgical unit combined with recent Critical Care (ICU) or Progressive Care (PCU/Stepdown) nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized nursing care to hemodynamically stable or unstable patients on a stepdown unit.
• Manage a diverse patient population including pre/post-PCI care, pacemaker placements, and complex surgical cases.
• Monitor for deterioration using assessment tools and intervene promptly.
• Operate advanced medical equipment and ventilatory support.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams from admission to discharge planning.
• Serve as a floor clinical leader and assist with precepting staff.
