Job summary

HCA Florida Sarasota Doctors Hospital in Sarasota, FL seeks a Progressive Care Registered Nurse (PCU) to deliver patient-centered pre- and post-operative care in collaboration with medical teams, advocating for patients to ensure an exceptional experience.

The RN will assess conditions at admission and with each shift, document care promptly, administer prescribed medications, and maintain current knowledge of cardiac and medical-surgical care to support a high-quality patient experience.

Qualifications

• Florida Registered Nurse licensure in accordance with state regulations (or compact licensure).
• Nursing Diploma or ASN required; BSN preferred.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification required.
• Critical thinking, service excellence, interpersonal communication, ability to read/write, and PC skills.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient condition during admission and each shift, report changes.
• Perform procedures or functions ordered by medical provider.
• Document administration of care in patient records promptly and thoroughly.
• Administer prescribed medications and monitor response.
• Maintain knowledge of medications, procedures, and equipment for cardiac and medical-surgical patients.

Job Summary And Qualifications

The Progressive Care Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care. In collaboration with medical providers, the RN provides pre-operative and post-operative nursing care. The RN serves as an advocate for patients to support an unparalleled patient experience.

What you will do in this role:

• Assess patient condition during admission and during each shift, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
• Perform procedures or other functions as ordered by the medical provider.
• Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
• Perform the administration of prescribed medications and monitors response.
• Maintain a knowledge of medications, procedures, and equipment used in the care of cardiac and medical-surgical patients.

What qualifications you will need:

• Licensure as a Florida Registered Nurse in accordance with state regulations or appropriate compact licensure. If compact license held, active FL RN license required within 60 days of hire.
• Nursing Diploma or ASN required; BSN preferred.
• Previous experience in an acute care setting strongly preferred.
• Current American Heart Association BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
• Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, ability to follow verbal instructions, PC skills
