Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule/Shift

12-hour Night Shift: 18:45 - 07:15, 36 hours per week, rotating float required if census is low. Requires working 6 weekends when on a 13-week contract.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse in Stepdown will provide care similar to that found in an Intensive Care Unit, managing patients with various conditions except for myocardial infarctions, gastrointestinal bleeds, and diabetic ketoacidosis. Nurses will be responsible for continuous monitoring in telemetries, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.

Responsibilities

• Monitor telemetry and manage cardiac drips, including titration.


• Administer blood products and manage central and peripheral lines.


• Perform phlebotomy, manage PICC lines, and assist with rapid response scenarios.


• Provide care for patients with feeding tubes and various respiratory support needs, including BiPAP/CPAP and High Flow Nasal Cannula.


• Conduct wound care and manage isolation precautions as necessary.


• Utilize the Meditech system for patient documentation and tracking.

Required Experience

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role is required.


• Telemetry and stepdown ICU experience preferred.


• Previous travel experience is preferred, but first-time travelers are accepted.

Certifications/Licensure

• Active RN license in North Carolina or compact state.


• ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and Stroke Life Support certifications are required.
